About
2011: Master of Science (M. Sc.) in Sciences of the Earth, Atmosphere and Space
(Geophysics specialization) University of Évora, Portugal. Thesis title: “Identifing
Sismogenic Sources in the Lower Tagus Valley”. Advisor: João Carvalho (LNEG). Tasks
performed:
• Interpretation of ~2,000 km of seismic reflection lines;
• Identification of major depositional discontinuities, salt and faults;
• Integration of seismic data with: potential methods (gravimetric and
aeromagnetic data), geological outcrops, seismology, oil-industry wells,
geotechnical soundings and altimetry data;
• Quantification of the probability of a fault being active and calculating the
maximum expected earthquake.
